This is Koen Broekens, our new colleague!
Koen joined Protify on December 1, 2025 as a Risk, Compliance & Security Consultant. We are happy to introduce Koen.There is a good chance he may soon be sitting at your table to support your organization.
Koen lives with his partner in Middenbeemster and was born in Apeldoorn. After high school, he was not entirely sure what direction to take. His passion for sailing eventually gave him clarity. He pursued vocational training in boat engineering and watersports and went on to work at several companies within the watersports industry.
Before joining Protify, Koen spent more than 11 years working in the field of practice management software within dental care, including 8 years as a Security Officer. In that environment, information security was a critical part of daily operations. He focused on setting up, improving, and embedding information security within a complex IT environment. His work included risk analyses, information security policies and awareness, and translating laws and regulations into practical and actionable measures. This experience allows him to clearly understand the challenges organizations face in practice.
In this role, he collaborated with Protify on various projects and further developed his experience in the ProActive Compliance Tool. When he came across the vacancy on the Protify website, he immediately felt it was the next position for him: “How great would it be to work on the advisory side?” The transition felt logical and aligned with his experience and ambitions.
Koen is loyal and curious. He enjoys learning new things and is always willing to help others. He also has a strong love for cheese, especially French cheese. Good food simply makes him happy. To stay balanced, he exercises regularly. He has recently joined a gym in Maarssen, close to the office, and often goes for a run. His passion for sailing remains strong. Whenever the weather allows it, he can be found on the water.
His first impression of Protify as an employee is very positive. He feels welcome, the team is open and friendly. There is a strong work ethic combined with enjoyment. The clear structure and well documented processes fit well with his way of working. He experiences the onboarding process as smooth and feels at home, able to be himself.
